You'll find Hagstrom Pictures
in "Visitors Contributions" and "Hagstrom Stories" As for "me and the boy"... You've seen the pics of my guitars on the Home page. Below you'll find some pics of my first Hagström
- 12 String Acoustic in tobacco sunburst - cost £40.
This sticker has adorned my ill fitting case for the last 25 years. The Bj-12 is a big shouldered guitar. The old case (ex a Yamaha 6 string) could not hold the sheer size of this beautiful guitar, but somehow it coped with a gaping lid just where the handle pulls most!
Finery... Note my old case. Resplendent with it's Hagström sticker, and yes a picture of Cat Stevens - well it was the seventies - Oh you thought it was Gordon again... At that time I was using a Sound City six channel PA amp and column speakers, with Shure mics. Soon after, attaching a Barcus Berry bug (shown in the pictures below still), but I always found the guitar was loud enough through the voice mic! Great Fun - Make some music in your bedroom studio.
...and here's my own cherished 1969 Hagström
Bj-12 (owned since 1974)...
Starting to teach my son recently, I realised I should look after my Bj-12 better. This is the Super Jumbo Hiscox case (Pro-GJ) with it's foam inserts and pads is advertised for a mere Gibson J200. The catalogue says it's just too small for mine - the widest stated shoulder/upper bout of 305mm. The Bj-12 has a massive 315mm shoulder width. It fitted just perfect! There are some really great sites to visit, much better thought out than mine, so live and learn to love this very individual and innovative range of guitars, that influenced a whole generation.
This is the closest similar guitar I've found on the web.
July 2nd 2001: I'd been looking for a partner for the BJ12 for a while, and after a few false starts, I saw one on E-bay (first time for me). Bid and won. I waited (impatiently) for it to arrive from Canada...
More details... when? - NOW. The Viking
has landed! Family...
Finally for now, this is Christopher (last seen above as a one year old), now seven, playing his Fender MA1. I make no apology - you can't get a three quarter size Hagström... or can you?
July 13th2001, another member of the family arrives. So CDC (Christopher) suggested this family gathering: Top (Hagstroms) 1968 Viking1 Special ; 1969 Bj12 Middle 1994 CDC; 2000 Fender MA1 Steel strung Bottom 2000 Palma MG945 Classical
Now lets put them back again - hey there's another one... (October 2001)
Christopher formed a band in March 2002 By 2007 the interest in making music had moved in many
different directions.

There's nothing like a REAL original Swedish made Hagstrom (and there are loads around), but if it 'floats your boat', or you can't find an original then who are we to say? | |
