Concord Deluxe BASS

Found in the heart of the Mersey area, in the year that Liverpool had been chosen
for the celebrations of European City of Culture...  2008.
What bigger cultural heritage has this City over the decades, than music.

Don't worry folks - it has since been re-strung wound
the opposite w
ay, and either side of the retainer bar !

This bass comes from a batch not listed in the "Hagstrom Gitarrer" booklet, so reading between the lines,
it was made as a follow on to the one and only batch 732xxx The Deluxe version of the Viking - the "Viking II"

(not to be confused with the Viking IN)

In line with the Viking II, this Bass has a solid block under the bridge for improved strength and resonation,
and I look forward to exploring the bass players world now we have a suitable amp. This Concord still flies!

The Marshall 72115 Dynamic Bass System has a fully blendable mixture of a valve or solid state
input pre-amp. Heavy but compact 200watt RMS. Thanks to Dave from
Rogue Studios for the deal...

The red felt washers cushioning the volume and tone dials are still bright colour, the woodwork is in superb
bright condition, no varnish checking or cracks. The guard with the gold lettering is clean,
and "in all" there is hardly anything to show it has a playing history.

Listed as batch 733xxx I have no idea how many or few were made, but this we conclude, was made in 1968.

The sound is very full and clear, even before you attach the Marshall, it's no Deputy in the playing choice stakes...

Comfort and clarity in looks and sound

Small areas of Gold tarnish do not show in the pictures, but there are some, mainly on the pickup surrounds,
however most of the Gold is 'sound' due to a coat of lacquer being applied - presumably early on in life.

No sign of fret wear, or damage to the pearl inlay neck

Here are a few shots derived from the pictures the previous owner took:

Quite a Nice old case too, but maybe more padding in future!

...and here is the small and only signs of past life since 1968  -  now restored!

...one to cherish!

There's nothing like a REAL original Swedish made Hagstrom (and there are loads around), but if it 'floats your boat', or you can't find an original then who are we to say?

Plenty has been said already and
will be said forever forward probably.
Only you know what's right for you!
