AM&S Shows Hagstrom Guitars, Launches Web Site

AGOURA HILLS, CA (August 9, 2004) - Some say they're the perfect guitars, which probably explains the enthusiastic response to the return of the legendary Hagstrom line at the recent 2004 NAMM Summer Session in Nashville. The classic brand, manufactured and distributed by American Music & Sound

(AM&S) under license from AB Albin Hagstrom, will begin shipping in November and will be officially launched at the NAMM Show in January 2005 in Anaheim, CA.

AM&S president Lynn Martin comments, "I am just ecstatic about the response to our pre-launch of Hagstrom guitars at the Summer NAMM Show. The pre-production prototypes of the Swede, Super Swede, Viking, Jimmy, Deluxe, and F Series models were very well received. Dealers and customers seem barely able to wait for new Hagstrom guitars to start arriving in stores at the end of the year."

In the meantime, AM&S has launched a web site for the new line of Hagstrom guitars at www.hagstromguitars.com, where visitors can learn more about the reissued models as well as the long history of these well-respected instruments. Owners will be also able to register their guitars and find information on the original Hagstrom 10 year warranty offered on all new guitars.

The newly manufactured Hagstrom line benefits from the advances in materials and manufacturing technology that have occurred since the guitars were last produced in Sweden in 1981. The Hagstrom line's long-established reputation for beauty, playability, and their ability to withstand the rigors of the road forms the foundation for several unique innovations that may now be enjoyed by a new generation of guitar players.

The reissued models feature fingerboards manufactured from Diamondwood, a revolutionary, homogeneous wood composite material that maintains a strong fundamental harmonic and eliminates wolf tones. Diamondwood offers ebony-like articulation yet with none of the associated problems, such as shrinkage or cracking.

All new Hagstom electric guitars include the company's patented H-Expander truss rod. Providing tension at either end and running the entire length of the neck, the rigid yet lightweight alloy truss rod allows for a very low action and thin neck, two factors that were instrumental in earning Hagstrom its reputation as the world's fastest playing guitar. Ensuring accurate tuning, Hagstrom's exclusive 18:1 gear ratio machine heads are also included on all electric models.

A self-lubricating graphite composite nut ensures increased sustain and vibration through improved transfer of energy to the neck, while the hard tropical mahogany tone woods used on the body produce a warm, mellow sound. On some models, sustain is further increased through the use of the FCS-1 full contact bridge system, which offers more contiguous contact than any other tremolo bridge on the market. Driving the guitar body with uninhibited string energy also generates maximum tone and sustain, so the Hagstrom block stop tailpiece is employed to deliver the maximum vibration into the body.

North American Hard Rock Maple, arguably the finest neck wood and used by the best luthiers worldwide, further enhances the playability and bright, articulated tone. A hard polyester finish, harder and more dense than standard polyurethane, protects the instrument and offers improved sonic performance.

Hagstrom once estimated that some 800,000 musicians had played their guitars, including Elvis Presley, Frank Zappa, Bjorn Ulveus (ABBA), Bryan Ferry (Roxy Music), David Bowie, ZZ Top, Jimi Hendrix and Noel Redding, Steve Hackett and Mike Rutherford (Genesis), and the Beatles. Current aficionados include Aerosmith, Franz Ferdinand, and The Kills.

Established since 2002, American Music & Sound (AM&S) distributes Allen & Heath professional audio mixing consoles, KV2 Audio live sound speaker systems, NetCIRA, a division of Fostex Japan, Mark Bass amplification, Walden Guitars, and Hagstrom Guitars.

LEGENDARY HAGSTROM GUITARS TO RETURN IN SUMMER 2004

AGOURA HILLS, CA -- American Music & Sound (AM&S) have announced that they will start distributing reissues of the classic Hagstrom line of guitars in summer 2004. Originally manufactured in Sweden between 1958 and 1981, Hagstrom guitars continue to enjoy a devoted following worldwide.

Hagstrom guitars are highly revered for their quality and design, and most notably for their fast playing necks. Many models employed a patented 'H' expander-stretcher made of a rigid alloy that allowed for a very low action and thin neck, and made for very fast playing. Such was the popularity of the instruments in their heyday that Hagstrom once estimated that some 800,000 musicians had played their guitars, including Elvis Presley, Frank Zappa, Bjorn Ulveus (ABBA), Bryan Ferry (Roxy Music), and the Beatles.

Lynn P. Martin, President of North American Pro Audio, commented, "We are very excited to be bringing back the legendary Hagstrom line. Although the guitars have been out of production for over 20 years, their popularity has not waned. Now, we are looking forward to introducing new generations to these fine instruments."

There's nothing like a REAL original Swedish made Hagstrom (and there are loads around), but if it 'floats your boat', or you can't find an original then who are we to say?

Plenty has been said already and
will be said forever forward probably.
Only you know what's right for you!
