I just wanted you to know I focused on Hagstroms many years back and have in my possession the black Silver Swede and the red Viking I, that Elvis played (look-alike). The black Silver Swede's Serial number is # 826189 . All the original knobs, switches and the case to boot. A moulded around the neck case, with little wear and tear, came along with the deal. I understand it was played in Canada by an Italian fellow with Mafia connections and job duties in weddings, etc.
The Viking was snapped up at an auction in 1988 in BC, Canada. Its serial number reads # 712386. The severe cold weather has checked the back of the enamelled finish but it also is in great shape otherwise. There was a note inside the pick/string compartment placed there by the previous USA owner; who asked the perspective new owner to take good care of her. He had stung her for playing left handed and in running short of money, gave her up to auction off, for return funds to return home.
I passed up a Sears electric guitar for $150.00 just
before the Viking auction next. I was able to pick the Swede Viking up for
$100.00. The fellow who bought the Sears electric guitar met with me at the pay
wicket and began to egg-me-on about how much better a deal he got than I did.
Mine was, he said, "checked and older looking with slightly yellowed
periffelling around the outside borders," he explained. "It also has surface
checking on the back," unlike his very clean and shiny model."
There must be loads of stories (and pics) around from the last forty years, why not share them with us!

|There's nothing like a REAL original Swedish made Hagstrom (and there are loads around), but if it 'floats your boat', or you can't find an original then who are we to say?|
Plenty has been said already and
