The Pickup unit - often an aftermarket (Hagstrom retail fitted) option.

You'll see a variety of acoustic pickup assemblies, and it has always been as difficult to date them as the guitars themselves, however having seen an old store cabin in Alvdalen in October 2005 with a drawer of these units, still sealed in tissue paper and plastic bags, I can only assume that this version was the most popular as well as (due to the plastic packaging) the most recent version that Hagstrom used.

It was for the retail store manager to add to the sale of an instrument by fitting options such as tremolo units to solid bodies... yes I've heard of a Gibson Les Paul fitted with such an option!

For the acoustics though, the main option you could consider for a straight model was to turn it into an 'e' version.

Here is one such kit:

Everything except the instructions!

Don't be fooled by the dots... just like the HII and HIII etc... they're just dots. It's a single magnet underneath
(the truth is out)

I've decided I'm going to have this tested and put on my original BJ12 from 1969

There's nothing like a REAL original Swedish made Hagstrom (and there are loads around), but if it 'floats your boat', or you can't find an original then who are we to say?

Plenty has been said already and
will be said forever forward probably.
Only you know what's right for you!
