You'll see a variety of acoustic pickup assemblies, and it has always been as difficult to date them as the guitars themselves, however having seen an old store cabin in Alvdalen in October 2005 with a drawer of these units, still sealed in tissue paper and plastic bags, I can only assume that this version was the most popular as well as (due to the plastic packaging) the most recent version that Hagstrom used. It was for the retail store manager to add to the sale of an instrument by fitting options such as tremolo units to solid bodies... yes I've heard of a Gibson Les Paul fitted with such an option! For the acoustics though, the main option you could consider for a straight model was to turn it into an 'e' version. Here is one such kit:
