Where it all Started:

We've read how it all started with that pioneering and business minded farm hand called Albin Hagström. Before long there were factories and shops, and plenty of work for the local people of Älvdalen...

It was the success of this initial venture that paid for everything that followed. This was a business goldmine for many years.

Within the Museum you will find fabulous examples of this production, photos and endorsements by most of the famous players of the times. You had a style and colour for any occasion, for a wide range of prices and players.

We've met Stefan, to hear him play some amazing examples from the museum, just click the links below

These videos really bring the experience to life, I really hope your browser will play them!

When the craze started to wane, it was deemed better to protect the workforce while alternative products could be sought to sell, so protecting them and the price of the fine accordions, Hagstrom decided it was better to bury the finished stock under concrete, the site is now the car park of 'a' supermarket...

The visit to the museum is definitely well worth it, of course we were incredibly privileged
to experience it the way we did. It is normally a static display, but worthy
in every sense, of more detailed inspection if you can ever make the journey.

There is a lot of descriptive detail, and of course seeing this presentation
is nothing compared to being there - the accordions are simply fantastic,
and although we may have seen most of the the guitar models before,
the equipment they were made with only underlines the hands-on
approach Hagstrom had to creating the well loved masterpieces we enjoy.

There is much more that could be done with interactivity, such as music and video samples...
after all, you have seen how easy it is to do - or I hope you have!
(If not, then please try - it'll have been worth the effort, if at least two of us see the videos!!).

If there is anything to add (as people have said to me before)
maybe some more obvious examples of the Bjarton factory
in the form of the acoustics that are so often left 'in the shade'.

Many thanks to Stefan for his time and energy.
He spoke at length about his ideas to build on the presentation
but for all his obvious qualifications and access,
it isn't down to him to make the decisions.

There's nothing like a REAL original Swedish made Hagstrom (and there are loads around), but if it 'floats your boat', or you can't find an original then who are we to say?

Plenty has been said already and
will be said forever forward probably.
Only you know what's right for you!
