July 2006 - We need some information please... We know Hagström would import some instruments for sale in their retail stores around Scandinavia, but what era was this six string guitar banjo made in, and does anyone know who made for Hagström?? Maybe the instrument is known as something else even? Anyway, a six string one, even if there's only three one it right now... Hello, I recently got an old 6 string banjo guitar. On a metallic part of the body is the Hagstrom logo, and the word "Import". On the side of the head is a serial number. The guy I got it from didn't know anything about it. So I started searching the Internet, and I found this nice Home page. I am wondering if You by, any chance, happen to know anything about this banjo guitar? Since I am from Sweden I thought this would be a swedish banjo guitar. But the official swedish Hagstrom home page doesn't say anything about banjos at all. Maybe You could bring some light into my darkness?
So can you help us learn a bit more about this piece?
As you can see one of the machine heads are broken. In fact there's something wrong with all of the machine heads, they don't keep the instrument tuned. I don't know why, but they keep slackening the strings as soon as I've tuned the banjo. Maybe I should just exchange them? Anyway, here are som pics of my Hagström guitar banjo. Would be nice to hear from you if you have any information on this instrument.

There's nothing like a REAL original Swedish made Hagstrom (and there are loads around), but if it 'floats your boat', or you can't find an original then who are we to say? | |
